{"id":87,"date":"2019-10-03T10:07:10","date_gmt":"2019-10-03T10:07:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mayorjanicejackson.com\/?p=87"},"modified":"2022-09-20T10:08:41","modified_gmt":"2022-09-20T10:08:41","slug":"south-bruce-peninsula-found-guilty-of-destroying-endangered-species-habitat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mayorjanicejackson.com\/index.php\/2019\/10\/03\/south-bruce-peninsula-found-guilty-of-destroying-endangered-species-habitat\/","title":{"rendered":"South Bruce Peninsula found guilty of destroying endangered species\u2019 habitat"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Town of South Bruce Peninsula has been found guilty of destroying the endangered Piping Plover habitat on two occasions that put their survival and recovery at risk by a decision made by Justice of the Peace, Charles Anderson, The ruling shows that the town\u2019s violations of the<em>&nbsp;Endangered Species Act<\/em>&nbsp;(ESA), and disregard for the endangered birds\u2019 survival, will not be tolerated by Ontario\u2019s courts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today\u2019s decision also shows that in April and September of 2017, the town made a clear choice to destroy important shoreline habitat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier this year, the Ontario government weakened the ESA.
